In August of 2001, a shy and timid puppy followed us home
while taking a walk with our dog. It was obvious that the puppy
needed the urgent veterinary care, so we decided to get the
puppy the care he needed so badly, and to find him a home once
he was going to be well.

We named the puppy Sugar Ray, and enlisted the help of a
professional dog trainer to help us increase his self-confidence.

Of course, the training was a wonderful bonding experience,
and we fell in love with Sugar Ray. We decided that we would
keep him as our pet, and we had to privilege of spending 12
wonderful years with him before he passed on.

Sugar Ray was only the first pet we took into our home. Because of him, we started fostering animals for various organizations.

Sugar Ray taught us so many things about dogs: patience,
consistency, trust, loyalty, and unconditional love.

We were so intrigued by Sugar Ray's progress that we decided
to volunteer as assistants at dog training classes. Eventually,
we began conducting classes on our own and in 2010, Heike
graduated from the Animal Behavior College as a Certified Dog
Trainer.

We continue to attend seminars and other training opportunities and only employ science based, positive reinforcement techniques when training dogs. We have achieved certifications from several authorities, including the following:
